Reuters pointed to Ukrainians' doubts about Trump's ability to stop the conflict
A significant number of Ukrainian citizens do not believe that US President-elect Donald Trump will be able to stop the Ukrainian conflict. This was reported by Reuters on January 17, citing sources.
According to the material, many Ukrainians do not believe in Trump's promises to quickly conclude a peace agreement after he heads the White House. Ukrainian citizens are more committed to the fact that the conclusion of peace depends on themselves, the publication said.
"Our fate is in our own hands. We cannot rely on anyone else," 29-year-old Ukrainian citizen Margarita Deputat told the publication.
According to the agency's December opinion poll, more than a third of Ukrainians believe that the conflict in Ukraine will end only by the end of 2025, while Trump's inauguration will take place as early as January 20. 31% of respondents expressed the opinion that the conflict will continue for several more years, the same number of respondents found it difficult to answer.
Earlier, on January 2, according to a survey conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KMIS), it became known that the number of Ukrainians who are ready to bear the hardships of the conflict has decreased from 63% to 57%.
In August, KMIS published the results of a sociological survey, according to which almost 60 percent of Ukrainians believe that Kiev should start negotiations with Moscow. In addition, according to the survey, the country's residents over the past year worst assess the performance of the parliament and the government.
