Sales of premium cars from Europe increased in Russia
Sales of new passenger cars of premium brands from Europe, the United States and Japan, which are no longer officially represented on the country's market, increased in Russia, Izvestiya reported on January 17. Some brands and models even surpassed the results shown in the pre-sanctions period.
For example, last year Russians bought 11.8 thousand BMW cars, which is 30.3% more than in 2023. Russians bought more than 2 thousand new Porsche sports cars and crossovers (+15.6%), 150 Lamborghini crossovers and supercars (+32.7%), about the same number of Rolls-Royce (+74.7%). Land Rover and Bentley sold 2,336 and 175 cars respectively (+12.8% and +19.9%).
It is noteworthy that despite the sanctions, including the ban on importing certain cars into our country, some models showed literally explosive growth in sales. For example, a full-size American pickup truck Dodge Ram in 2021 sold 422 units in our country. And at the end of last year, 1662 such cars were sold.
Sales of cars of premium brands grew in Russia against the background of their decline in the global market. Thus, BMW and Mercedes-Benz sold 4% fewer cars in 2024 than in 2023. At Audi the decrease amounted to almost 12%.
