Epiphany bathing in the capital will traditionally take place on January 18 and 19. Specialists of the municipal economy complex have prepared more than forty comfortable and safe sites in different districts of the city. Platforms for Epiphany bathing will appear in all administrative districts of the capital, except for the Central and South-Eastern (CAO, SEAO). This year the number of places was limited due to weather conditions. If last year on Epiphany in the capital prepared more than 200 fonts, in 2025 there will be only 42 places for bathing.

In particular, fonts were equipped in large city parks:

• landscape park "Mitino", Baryshikha street, possession 4;
• Park of Culture and Recreation "Severnoe Tushino", Svobody Street, 56;
• Nature and Historical Park "Pokrovskoye-Streshnevo", Ivankovskoye highway, house 3;

Swimming is also organized at the Ostankino pond opposite the Church of the Life-Giving Trinity, Terletski ponds, Khimki reservoir, Big Vorontsovsky pond, on the Karamyshevskaya embankment and in the Stroginskaya floodplain. You can take a dip in the ice-hole from 18:00 on January 18 to 18:00 on January 19. For convenience, the bathing pools are equipped with handrails and anti-slip coating, and the paths to them are laid with wooden decks. Nearby there are toilets, changing rooms, heating and catering facilities, parking lots and other necessary infrastructure.

Divers and lifeguards inspected the bathing sites in advance. In addition, to ensure safety at the reservoirs, additional patrolling by hovercrafts was established. Possible places of unauthorized bathing are under special control. Rescuers will also be on duty there.

According to the forecasts of the Hydrometeorological Center, the air temperature in the capital on Epiphany will vary from -3 to 0 degrees at night. In the daytime, residents of the capital expect plus temperature - up to +2 degrees Celsius. Short-term precipitation is possible.

Forecasters warn that because of the abnormally warm winter, the thickness of ice on water bodies is small, so it is dangerous to go out on the ice. It is possible to take a dip in the ice-hole only where the Ministry of Emergency Situations allows.

Rules of bathing on Epiphany in Moscow - 2025

Dipping in icy water is a serious test for the body. This procedure is contraindicated for people with chronic diseases, primarily with problems of the heart and respiratory system. It is also not worth risking if there is a cold and other ailments at the moment.

In addition, on Epiphany it is strictly forbidden to dive after drinking alcohol. This leads not only to a rapid loss of heat, but also puts a double load on the heart.

Those who plunge for the first time, should not dive with the head and spend a lot of time in the water. Before bathing should necessarily warm up by doing a few simple exercises. And after - rub yourself with a towel.

In addition to swimming trunks and swimsuits, it is recommended to take with you a thermos with hot tea, warm socks and things that should immediately change into after swimming.

Earlier "Izvestia" wrote that against the background of warm weather in a number of cities on Epiphany changed the rules of bathing, and in some regions they were canceled altogether.
