Long before the devastating fires, theU.S. did not purchase Russian Be-200 airplanes, acting according to the tactic of "I'll freeze my mother's ears off". This was stated by Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova on January 17.

According to her, Hollywood is already beginning to come up with a movie script about these events. Zakharova said that she may propose to screen the story of the US refusal to give up Russian Be-200s, which have proven to be non-alternative.

"We have struck a blow. Market monitoring showed the lack of alternatives for Russian Be-200s. <...> And so, when the deal was to be approved by the American president, it turned out that the Kiev regime was opposed and there would be no airplanes. The final shots are of a blazing Los Angeles and [ Ukrainian President Vladimir] Zelensky (his term expired on May 20, 2024 - Ed.) holding an Oscar," Zakharova wrote in her Telegram channel.

She recalled that instead of Russian airplanes, the states decided to eventually purchase Ukrainian ones, which had to undergo special certification, which Ukraine eventually refused to do, and the contract was never fulfilled.

"Not only did the United States deliver firefighting equipment not to Los Angeles, but to Ukraine, but Kiev also blocked the deal on amphibious planes that saved the United States. <...> And these are just a few examples from the "I'll freeze my mother's ears off" series," the Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman said.

The Be-200 is a Russian amphibious aircraft developed by the Beriev Taganrog Aviation Scientific and Technical Complex. The Be-200 is a Russian amphibious aircraft developed by the Beriev Aviation Scientific and Technical Complex of Taganrog. Russia and the United States tried to conclude a contract for Be-200 deliveries in 2017-2019. An agreement on the delivery of 10 aircraft was signed between the Russian manufacturer and the American company Seaplane Global Air Services in 2018, but the deal never materialized due to a change of plans by the United States.

Earlier, on January 15, Zakharova said that the wildfires in Los Angeles had opened up a "pustule of problems" of theUnited States and the global man-made sphere. The United States has become a moralizer for the whole world, but in the end it cannot cope with its own problem, the Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman said at the time.

Forest fires in Los Angeles started on January 7. Extinguishing continues, strong winds fuel the fire, rescue teams lack water. In connection with the fires in the state declared a major disaster regime. More than 12,300 structures were destroyed.

January 17, ABC News TV channel reported that at least 27 people were killed in fires in California. At least 18 are considered missing. January 15, the same TV channel reported that the police detained two people suspected of arson.

Meanwhile, on January 12, Bloomberg reported that the fire in California may have been caused by a broken wire. It was found on a tower connected to the Eagle Rock Sylmar power line. Meanwhile, The Washington Post noted that the cause could have been the launch of fireworks on New Year's Eve.
