The Russian army has used FAB-500 bombs to destroy a bridge near Constantinople west of Kurakhovo in the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR), which was used to supply the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). The Russian Defense Ministry said on January 16.

"The crews of the aircrafts of the Russian Armed Forces of Russia by strikes of three FAB-500 bombs equipped with universal planning and correction modules, successfully destroyed a reinforced concrete bridge near the settlement of Konstantinopol (west of Kurakhovo), thus hampering the possibility of ammunition delivery and rotation of personnel of the AFU units in this direction", - noted in the message.

Also on this day it became known that the Russian army struck at the production workshops, assembly sites and warehouses of drones in Ukraine. In addition, the Southern group of troops improved its position on the line of contact by striking eight brigades of the AFU in the areas of the settlements of Chasov Yar, Kramatorsk, Minkovka, Alekseevo-Druzhkovka, Konstantinovka, Sribnoye and Dachnoye DNR. The Ukrainian Army lost up to 260 fighters, four armored combat vehicles (ACVs), a tank, seven artillery pieces, including two 155mm M777 American howitzers, and five pickup trucks there.

Earlier in the day, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that servicemen of Russia's North group of troops, using a Lancet barrage munition, destroyed an infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) with an AFU paratrooper in the border area of the Kursk region.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by the Russian president on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
