Basmanny District Court of Moscow has arrested Ramazan Padiev, a defendant in the case of murder of Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, head of the Radiation, Chemical and Biological Defense Forces (RCBZ) of the Russian Armed Forces, and his assistant, until February 17, 2025. This was reported on January 16 by the Izvestia correspondent from the courtroom.

It was announced that Padiev had no previous convictions, did not serve in the army, is not married, has no children and works as a security guard. According to the court's decision, the session was later closed.

Earlier in the day, in addition to Padiev, another defendant in the Kirillov murder case was brought to the Basmanny court of Moscow.

Two new suspects of involvement in the terrorist attack against Kirillov were detained on January 13 in Ingushetia. Izvestiya's source reported that they are Padiev and Batukhan Tochiev. According to law enforcement agencies, the two detainees provided an apartment and transportation for the perpetrators of the terrorist attack on Kirillov on the instructions of the Ukrainian security service.

Kirillov and his assistant were killed in the morning of December 17, 2024 as a result of detonation of an explosive device planted in a scooter at the entrance of an apartment building in Moscow.

The next day, the FSB reported the detention of 29-year-old suspect Akhmad Kurbanov. During interrogation, he said that he had been recruited by the special services of Ukraine. For the murder of a Russian soldier he was promised a reward of $100 thousand and travel to live in one of the EU countries. The attacker could face a sentence of up to life imprisonment. Basmanny court of Moscow arrested Kurbanov until February 17.

Russian President Vladimir Putin called the incident a terrorist attack.
