- The Cabinet of Ministers supported the creation of a unified system for determining the origin of goods in the EAEU
The Russian Government at a meeting on January 16 supported for submission to the State Duma (GD) a draft federal law "On ratification of the agreement between the EAEU countries" on the creation of a unified system for determining the origin of goods exported from the customs territory of the Eurasian Economic Union. This was reported in the press service of the Ministry of Economic Development.
"The agreement will allow to create in the EAEU common norms for determining the country of origin of goods, so that the countries of the "Eurasian five" had a common understanding of how to determine the country of origin of complex products, the creation of which used components from other countries," - the press service quotes the words of the Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Maxim Reshetnikov.
It is noted that at the moment the customs authorities of the Union are not required to check certificates of origin of goods in respect of which unilateral measures introduced by other members of the association.
As indicated, a unified system of determining the origin of goods implies a gradual transition of the EAEU to electronic certificates and the introduction of online interaction between business and competent authorities that confirm the country of production. In the long term, this will greatly simplify exports for businesses from the countries of the Union.
The EAEU countries signed an agreement on a harmonized system for determining the origin of goods in December 2023. It will enter into force within 30 days from the date of receipt by the Eurasian Economic Commission of a notification from the last country that ratifies it, the press service of the agency added.
Earlier, on December 26, 2024, Reshetnikov said that mutual trade between the EAEU countries for nine months increased by 12.3% compared to 2023 and totaled Br6.5 trillion. According to him, an important step was the agreement on a unified system of customs transit of the EAEU and third countries, which was signed by the heads of the countries of the union.
At the same time, he told Izvestia about the transition of the Russian Federation to settlements with partners in rubles. He noted the large trade turnover between the countries. Reshetnikov also shared that trade within the EAEU is stable and protected from external risks.
