The Hydrometeorological Center told about the weather on Epiphany on January 19

The existing stereotype about Baptismal frosts is not always justified, in recent years it has been mostly warm. This was stated by Roman Vilfand, scientific head of the Russian Hydrometeorological Center Roman Vilfand, during a press conference at the Izvestia IEC on January 16.
"By definition, the second half of January throughout our country is the coldest period, low temperatures are found. <...> This year there will be no frost in almost the entire European part of Russia," he noted.
So, in Moscow at night will be from -3 to 0 degrees, and during the day - from zero to +2. High temperatures are expected in the Southern Federal District. Frosty weather will be in the Magadan region, Yakutia, believes the meteorologist.
The Russian Orthodox Church celebrates the Epiphany on January 19. On the night of Epiphany, many believers traditionally take a dip in the ice-hole. Against the background of abnormally warm weather in a number of cities were changed the rules of bathing on Epiphany, and in some regions they were canceled altogether.
Before that, on January 14, it was reported that in the Moscow region will equip 227 places for bathing on the Epiphany holiday, where Russians can traditionally take a dip in the ice-hole. Thus, it will be possible to take a dip in the font on the territory of the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ in the military-patriotic park of culture and recreation of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation "Patriot" in Odintsovsky urban district. The spring (font) of St. Sergius of Radonezh "Gremyachiy Klyuch" in the village of Vzglyadnevo in the Sergiev Posadsky Urban District will also be equipped for bathing.
