Epiphany baptismal font in the Tyumen Region will be smaller than usual
In the Tyumen Region, the rules for baptismal bathing are changing. The reason for this is the abnormally warm winter weather.
Thus, in some districts of the region there will be no baptismal baths at all. Because of the warm weather, the ice cover on the rivers is fragile, mass stay of people on the ice is dangerous and unacceptable, according to the Telegram-channel of the regional government.
Ura.ru news agency specifies that on January 18, the rite of water consecration will be held in all local churches, on Lipovoye Lake and Studencheskoye Pond, as well as on Velizhansky and Metelevsky water intakes. At 8:30 a.m. the Divine Liturgy will begin in the Holy Trinity Monastery of Tyumen, which will be conducted by Metropolitan Demetrius of Tobolsk and Tyumen.
A procession will also take place in the city, which will end at the embankment of the Tura River. On January 19, services will be held in all Orthodox churches in the region.
Earlier there was information that Tyumen is preparing two official places for baptismal bathing - at the Holy Trinity Monastery and on Lipovoye Lake.
January 14, it was reported that in the Moscow region will equip 227 places for bathing on the Feast of the Epiphany, where Russians can traditionally take a dip in the ice-hole. Thus, it will be possible to take a dip in the font on the territory of the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ in the military-patriotic park of culture and recreation of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation "Patriot" in Odintsovsky urban district. The spring (font) of St. Sergius of Radonezh "Gremyachiy Klyuch" in the village of Vzglyadnevo in the Sergiev Posadsky Urban District will also be equipped for bathing.
