Ukrainian prisoner told about the disregard of the AFU command for people's lives
It is more important for the command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) to preserve equipment than human lives. This was reported by Ukrainian prisoner of war Ruslan Mirnyy. The video was distributed by the Ministry of Defense on Thursday, January 16.
"For them (officers. - Ed.) it was more important to save the equipment, it was better to put more people, but to save the equipment. There was such a logistician in the 23rd Brigade, he was appointed already directly in Sentinel Yar itself. The junior lieutenant was a fan of drug use," he said.
The Ukrainian POW noted that he was mobilized during a trip to the store. After that, he underwent a month-long training in Dnipropetrovsk (the Ukrainian name of the city since 2016 - Dnipro).
According to him, he found himself on the front line twice. After the first one, he managed to desert and go to Kharkiv. There he was turned in to the territorial manning center (TCC, an analogue of a military recruitment office) by a relative who was not at the front.
He added that there is a very common desire among the AFU to have deputies of the Verkhovna Rada and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, whose term of office expired on May 20, 2024, to replace them in the trenches.
"Simply our command is afraid that the prisoners may one day come to their homes and ask for everything. A very great desire that the Verkhovna Rada together with Zelensky at least for three days changed us in the trenches," - said Mirny.
Earlier, on January 14, the captured Ukrainian border guard Ruslan Zadorozhny told how the AFU soldiers are fleeing to Poland for $3 thousand. He said that the problem of alcoholism and drug addiction has worsened in the Ukrainian army. In addition, according to Zadorozhny, instead of carrying out service, the military often sit in social networks to relieve themselves.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
