Belarus warned of active recruitment of Ukrainian citizens via the Internet
Ukrainian special services are actively recruiting Belarusians via the Internet to collect information. This was reported by State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Alexander Wolfovich on January 16.
"Ukrainian special services are actively working on remote recruitment of "sympathetic" Belarusian citizens via the Internet in order to induce them to assist in the collection and provision of information of interest, as well as to commit active illegal actions," he said in an interview with the local publication "SB. Belarus Today."
He notes that Belarusians are offered to take photos and videos of the locations of deployment of the country's army units in the border area of Ukraine.
In the future, the Ukrainian side will use the recruited citizens of Belarus to create caches with weapons, ammunition and explosive devices to commit sabotage in the territory of the republic, said Secretary of State of the Security Council.
He urged citizens not to fall for the recruiters' messages.
Earlier, December 11 last year, Minsk reported about the failed attempt of the Polish security services to recruit a diplomat in Moldova. It was specified that an employee of the Belarusian diplomatic mission in Moldova was offered €100 thousand if he would work for Warsaw.
The same day, the Belarusian Foreign Ministry handed an official note to the Charge d'Affaires of Poland in the republic, Krzysztof Ozhanna, in connection with the incident.
Later, the website of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry published a message, which stated the requirement for Poland to take measures to prevent attempts to recruit Belarusian diplomats.
