The Russian military has successfully hit the ground infrastructure of the largest underground gas storage facility in Stryi, Lviv Region. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on January 16.
It is specified that the Armed Forces (AF) of the Russian Federation hit important gas and energy infrastructure facilities in Ukraine in response to ATACMS strikes and an attempt to disrupt gas supply via the Turkish Stream.
"One of the successfully hit targets was the ground infrastructure of the largest underground gas storage facility in the city of Stryi, Lviv region. The armed forces of the Russian Federation continue to monitor the situation in a constant mode, and any provocations of the Kiev regime will not go unanswered," the agency said in a statement.
It is reported that the group strike was carried out with high-precision weapons on critical facilities of Ukraine's gas and energy infrastructure.
Earlier, on January 15, the Defense Ministry said that Russian fighters carried out a group strike on critical facilities of the gas and energy infrastructure necessary for the operation of the military-industrial complex of Ukraine. It is specified that all designated facilities have been hit.
Russian forces began striking military facilities and related energy and communications facilities in Ukraine in October 2022. As explained by Russian President Vladimir Putin, this was a response to the terrorist actions of the Kiev regime.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced on February 24, 2022, is ongoing. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
