HC Spartak lost to Avtomobilist and suffered its third consecutive defeat in the KHL

Yekaterinburg hockey club Avtomobilist defeated Spartak Moscow in an away match of the regular championship of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL).

The meeting took place on January 15 and ended with a score of 3:2. The winners scored goals from forwards Maxim Denezhkin (36th minute), Nick Merkley (37) and Stefan Da Costa (59). Forward Adam Ruzicka scored a double for the Red-Whites (35th and 53rd minutes).

"Spartak" suffered its third consecutive defeat in KHL matches. Based on the results of the meeting, Avtomobilist is in fifth place in the Eastern Conference standings with 56 points, while the Moscow club sits in fourth place in the Western Conference with 57 points.

Earlier in the day, Salavat Yulaev of Ufa defeated Neftekhimik of Nizhnekamsk 5-0 in the KHL regular season. Forward Josh Leivo scored his third hat trick in a month. Scott Wilson and Alexander Khmelevsky also scored pucks.
