A complex forensic examination has been appointed in connection with the crash of the plane of the Azerbaijani airline AZAL in Aktau in late December 2024. This was announced by the official representative of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia Svetlana Petrenko on January 15.
"To assess the actions of officials of dispatch services, air traffic organization system, air defense, a complex commission organizational and technical forensic examination has been appointed," she was quoted in the Telegram-channel of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.
Petrenko added that, among other things, appointed and complex aviation-technical expertise.
It is noted that the investigation has established contacts with the competent Azerbaijani and Kazakh authorities. At the moment, the data from the plane's recorders, which were obtained in the Brazilian Center for investigation and prevention of aviation accidents (SENIPA), are being studied.
In addition, the process of analyzing the negotiations of the dispatchers of Grozny, Makhachkala and Mineralnye Vody with the aircraft commander, as well as studying the state of all systems of the aircraft and physical evidence.
Earlier in the day, the press service of the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan reported that the decoded data of the plane's "black boxes" had arrived in the country. A preliminary report with the established factual information, as well as data on the progress of the investigation will be published after a detailed study of all the facts and materials.
It was specified that the "black boxes" returned to Kazakhstan from Brazil, where they were decoded by the commission to investigate the accident. In addition to employees of the Center for Investigation and Prevention of Aviation Accidents in Brazil (CENIPA), nine foreign technical experts from Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Russia were involved in the work.
A passenger plane of AZAL Airlines, heading from Baku to Grozny, crashed near the Kazakh city of Aktau on December 25. The Ministry of Transport of Azerbaijan called the preliminary cause of the crash outside interference. After the incident a criminal case was initiated.
There were 62 passengers and five crew members on board. Thirty-eight people died, including seven Russians. Nine injured citizens of the Russian Federation were taken to Moscow for treatment, three of them still remain in hospital.
