A ceasefire agreement has been reached in the Gaza Strip. This was reported on January 15 in the social network X (former Twitter) by the Egyptian TV channel AlQahera News, citing a source.

It is specified that the joint statement will be published in the near future.

In turn, Al Jazeera TV channel reported that the Palestinian radical movement Hamas handed the mediators an approving response to the agreement on a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and exchange of prisoners.

"The movement's delegation handed over to the mediators the approval of the ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement," the Telegram channel said.

According to Israeli portal Ynet, Hamas made last-minute demands on the Philadelphia Axis. It is noted that Israel does not agree with these conditions.

Earlier in the day, the Israeli newspaper The Times of Israel, citing a source, reported that Israel and Hamas had reached agreements in principle in a deal on Gaza and the exchange of hostages. It was specified that the parties need to discuss the parameters of the withdrawal of Israeli army troops, as well as the exact route of the military.

On the eve of the Associated Press reported on the agreement of the Palestinian radical movement Hamas with the terms of the ceasefire deal in the Gaza Strip. It is noted that Israel is still clarifying the final details of the agreement, and the final approval of the deal on the Israeli side will have to give the Cabinet.

The situation in the Middle East escalated on the morning of October 7, 2023, when the Palestinian radical movement Hamas subjected the territory of Israel to a massive rocket attack from the Gaza Strip. On the same day, Israel began retaliatory strikes.
