French woman gave €830k for 'Brad Pitt treatment'
Fraudsters on behalf of Hollywood actor Brad Pitt defrauded a 53-year-old French woman of €830 thousand ($856.7 thousand). This was reported on January 15 by the British online edition of the Independent.
The actor himself condemned the actions of fraudsters.
"It is terrible that fraudsters use the strong bond between the celebrity and fans against people," - the edition quotes an excerpt from the statement of the representative of the star.
The statement also said that what happened is "an important reminder not to respond to sudden messages from strangers."
It is specified that the French citizen was in a relationship with "Brad Pitt" and periodically transferred him money for various purposes, including treatment for kidney cancer. "Pitt" sent her artificial intelligence-generated photos from the hospital and offered to marry him.
The Frenchwoman was initially warned that she was the victim of a fraudulent scheme, but she believed it only when she saw an actual photo of the real actor with his lover Ines de Ramon.
Earlier, on January 13, it was reported that a resident of Cheboksary gave her savings and took a loan to help the "Korean actor". The fraudster, introducing himself in a Telegram chat room as a Korean star, took possession of the sum of 277 thousand rubles under the pretext of moving to the victim.
