Armenia and Russia have agreed that Moscow will reduce Yerevan's interstate debt at the expense of already paid but undelivered weapons. This was announced by Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan at a press conference on January 15.

"According to the Finance Minister, the amount of paid and undelivered weapons will be deducted from Armenia's interstate debt in accordance with the agreement between Armenia and Russia," TASS news agency quoted him as saying.

Papikyan also noted that Armenia has not canceled any of the documents related to bilateral relations with Russia.

According to the minister, Yerevan is interested in high-level cooperation with Russia.

Back on November 29, 2024, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin said that the Russian Federation remains committed to the entire set of agreements with Armenia and does not abandon its commitments to its allies in the military-political sphere. The diplomat recalled that Russia together with Armenia have been building security in the South Caucasus for years. He added that Moscow remains ready for a dialog with Yerevan on this topic.

Last November, it was also reported that Russia expects the Armenian partners to be involved in joint efforts to develop a system of equal and indivisible security on the Eurasian continent.
