Armenia says there are no grounds for escalation with Azerbaijan

The Armenian Defense Ministry believes that there are no grounds for escalation of the situation with Azerbaijan. This was stated by Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan at a press conference in Yerevan on January 15.
"Rhetoric is rhetoric, but any aggression needs grounds," he said.
According to him, he sees no grounds for escalation of the situation with Azerbaijan, as Armenia has solutions to every problem. Any issue can be resolved through negotiations, TASS quoted him as saying.
Earlier, on January 8, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that Yerevan had sent proposals to Baku on the unagreed two points of the draft peace treaty. He also noted that Armenia offered Azerbaijan to open a railroad connection.
On October 23, 2024, it became known that the Armenian National Assembly ratified the provisions on border delimitation with Azerbaijan in the first reading. Sixty-seven deputies voted in favor of adopting the draft. They assume that the disputes between the republics will be resolved not by military means or force, but on a special platform.
The relations between the two countries have been aggravated, among other things, against the background of disputed ownership of Nagorno-Karabakh. On October 5, 2023, Pashinyan signed a declaration recognizing Azerbaijan's borders, which included Nagorno-Karabakh. Despite this, there are still periodic armed clashes on the border between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
