Kazakhstan received decoded data from the crashed AZAL plane

Decoded data of the black boxes of the plane of Azerbaijani airline AZAL, which crashed in Aktau in late December 2024, have arrived in Kazakhstan. This was reported in the press service of the Kazakh Ministry of Transport on January 15.

"The Commission for investigation of the aviation accident of the Ministry of Transport in accordance with the standards and recommended practices of ICAO Annex 13 after a detailed study of all facts and materials will publish a preliminary report, which will present the established factual information and information on the progress of the investigation," - the local edition Tengrinews quoted the message of the Ministry.

It was specified that the black boxes were returned to Kazakhstan from Brazil, where they were decoded by the commission to investigate the accident. In addition to employees of the Center for the investigation and prevention of aviation accidents in Brazil (CENIPA), nine foreign technical experts from Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Russia were involved in the work.

January 7, it was reported that the preliminary results of the investigation of the plane crash will be made public within 30 days.

AZAL Airlines passenger plane, heading from Baku to Grozny, crashed near the Kazakh city of Aktau on December 25. The Ministry of Transport of Azerbaijan called the preliminary cause of the crash outside interference. After the incident a criminal case was initiated.

There were 62 passengers and five crew members on board. Thirty-eight people died, including seven Russians. Nine injured citizens of the Russian Federation were taken to Moscow for treatment, three of them still remain in hospital.
