Russia and Vietnam approve plan to develop cooperation until 2030

Following the visit of the Russian government delegation headed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin to Hanoi, Russia and Vietnam have signed a comprehensive plan to develop cooperation until 2030. This was announced by Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov on January 15.
He called the signing one of the important results of the Russian delegation's visit. According to him, the document includes steps to increase the number of common projects, as well as decisions to support mutual contacts in 13 sectors of the economy.
"The comprehensive plan of Russian-Vietnamese cooperation for the period up to 2030 should help achieve the ambitious goal of tripling mutual trade turnover to $15 billion, which the heads of government of Russia and Vietnam have set for themselves by 2030," Reshetnikov was quoted as saying on the official website of the Russian Ministry of Economic Development.
He added that with proper organization of work the set goals are quite achievable. Separately, Reshetnikov noted that Russian cartoons are popular in Vietnam, which indicates the prospect for cooperation in the creative economy.
"In the next few years, Russia and Vietnam plan to strengthen joint work in the field of tourism development. Already now, thanks to electronic visas, the number of Vietnamese tourists in Russia is steadily growing. By the end of 2024, the tourist flow from Russia to Vietnam has increased by 85%," the Minister concluded.
Earlier in the day, it was reported that Russia and Vietnam agreed to strengthen bilateral trade and increase the supply of products to each other's markets. According to the document, the two countries stressed the importance of developing transportation and making greater use of the free trade regime.
Mishustin flew to Vietnam on an official visit on January 13. The next day, talks between representatives of Russia and Vietnam began in Hanoi.
