Russian President Vladimir Putin said on January 15 that he had signed a decree on a one-time payment to veterans of the Great Patriotic War.

"I will separately dwell on the decision that has already been made. Today I signed a decree on lump-sum payments to front-line veterans and widows of front-line veterans, as well as young prisoners of concentration camps by Br80 thousand," - said the head of state at a meeting of the Russian organizing committee "Victory".

In addition, Br55 thousand will be paid to the home front workers and residents of besieged Leningrad, adult prisoners of concentration camps and those who worked at air defense facilities, naval and air bases, as well as built defensive structures.

"It is our duty to do everything possible to make the lives of those who saved our country decent and secure. This is important for the younger generations as well," Putin emphasized.
