The U.S. put the Russian army in second place in the rating of military power
The Russian army has taken second place in the annual ranking of military power according to the Global Firepower portal, second only to the United States. As noted in the annual report on January 15, the compilers of the list compared the military capabilities of 145 states.
More than 60 factors were evaluated to determine the index of military power. Among them - the financial situation in the state, geographical location of the country, logistical capabilities and others.
The leaders of the rating were the United States (0.0744), Russia took the second line of the list (0.0788), followed by China (with the same index, 0.0788), India (0.1184) and South Korea (0.1656). The top five countries are thus unchanged from the previous year.
Further in the top ten were also the UK, France, Japan, Turkey and Italy. Ukraine closed the second ten of the rating.
Earlier, in October 2024, Russian President Vladimir Putin noted at a meeting with media leaders of the BRICS countries that the combat readiness of the Russian Armed Forces is at the highest level in the world. He added that the same is true for the domestic defense industry.
In December, speaking at an enlarged meeting of the Russian Defense Ministry board, the head of state said that there was a breakthrough on the line of contact in the Ukrainian conflict due to the activity of Russian troops. The President stressed that the Russian Armed Forces have a firm grip on the strategic initiative along the entire line of contact thanks to the professionalism and courage of soldiers, the work of defense enterprises and the nationwide support of the army and navy.
He also said that the authorized strength of the Russian Armed Forces has been increased to 1.5 million people, the army is developing general-purpose forces. The share of the newest weapons in the strategic nuclear forces of the Russian Federation has already reached 95%.
