- "Pittsburgh declined to comment on Malkin's robbery while the investigation is ongoing

The National Hockey League (NHL) club Pittsburgh Penguins refused to comment during the investigation of the robbery of Russian forward Evgeni Malkin's home in the United States. The corresponding statement was made on January 15 by journalist Jennifer Borrasso on social network X (former Twitter).
"Details of the situation will not be disclosed as the investigation is ongoing," she quoted the club as saying.
Pittsburgh noted that they are working closely with local authorities and the team's security service. In addition, the club clarified that there will be no further comments on the matter, as the hockey player himself, among other things, asked to respect his privacy during the investigation.
CBS News reported that burglars broke into the athlete's home in Sewickley Heights on Saturday, January 11. It was specified that Malkin had three championship rings stolen for winning the NHL Stanley Cup in 2009, 2016 and 2017.
Upon arriving home, the hockey player found that the cameras and alarm system had been disabled and the safe had been opened. It is noted that the 911 call came hours after Pittsburgh's game against the Ottawa Senators.
Earlier, on August 1, 2024, Slovakian national team cyclists were victims of a robbery at the Olympic Village in Saint-Denis. The intruders stole ten tires, spare parts and several gear shifters worth about €2300. The team's coach filed a complaint at the front base of the city's commissariat.
