Patrushev called the modernization of Onega Shipyard promising
Modernization of Onega Shipyard in Petrozavodsk is very promising. This statement was made on January 15 by Nikolai Patrushev, Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation and Chairman of the Maritime Board, at the ceremony of launching the first stage of Russia's first digital shipyard.
According to him, the shipyard will be at "a new level of technological development" after modernization of production facilities and introduction of information management system. He added that the achieved innovative solutions will have to be implemented at other enterprises of the industry.
"We ourselves designed it (the enterprise. - Ed.) in our country. When it starts working in full force, we will see a truly modern world-class enterprise," he said.
Patrushev emphasized that the project has great expectations. He noted, among other things, the high quality of the products that will be manufactured at the enterprise. At the same time, he added that the production will be done in a much shorter time than before. Thus, 10 products will be produced per year, when previously only four were produced in the same period.
He noted that this will be a "new quality", as the number of vessels will increase at least three times in relation to the current moment when working at full capacity. In addition, Patrushev pointed to the increase in the number of jobs.
"It is very good that such an enterprise, we can say, has already appeared in our country. I think we will spread this experience for further shipbuilding enterprises," the Russian presidential aide added.
Patrushev also shared plans to launch the second stage, which is scheduled for two years.
The plans to build the country's first digital shipyardat the Onega Shipyard in Petrozavodsk were announced by the head of Karelia Artur Parfenchikov back in August 2021. At that time, he noted that digital technologies would be used in the construction of ships, and processes would be automated.
