Over the past 24 hours, 208 traffic accidents occurred on Russian roads, in which 16 people died and 263 were injured. 13 dead were drivers and passengers. This was reported to "Izvestia" on Wednesday, January 15, in the State Automobile Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

As a result of 77 traffic accidents involving pedestrians, three people were killed, another 77 were injured. Among the victims are 14 child pedestrians, nine of whom were injured at crosswalks. Of the total number of accidents involving pedestrians, 46 occurred at crosswalks and 31 outside the crossing zone. Children did not die on the Russian roads last day, the State Automobile Inspectorate said.

With the participation of buses on the roads of Russia 16 accidents were recorded, in which two people were killed and 16 people were injured. The cause of six accidents with buses was a violation of traffic rules by their drivers. Thus, in the Moscow region, at the 49th km of the federal highway M-10 "Russia", the driver of a bus collided with another bus, which had previously been involved in a minor accident and was standing in the leftmost lane. At the time of the collision, the driver of the "emergency" bus was on the roadway together with one of the passengers. As a result of the secondary accident, they both died.

In addition, in the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania since yesterday evening due to bad weather on the territory of the neighboring country temporarily stopped traffic for trucks on the federal highway A-161 Vladikavkaz - Nizhny Lars - the border with the Republic of Georgia in the direction of the exit from the Russian Federation.

When planning long-distance trips in winter conditions, the State Automobile Inspectorate recommends drivers and passengers to always follow the weather forecast, as well as media reports from the places of traffic closures or restrictions. In case of a negative weather forecast, the department advises to refrain from traveling long distances until the road situation improves, and in urban conditions to use public transportation services.

"If you do set out on the road, in conditions of limited visibility and winter weather, especially in the early morning, evening and night, choose a safe speed limit, increase the distance and side interval. In conditions of snowfall, snowstorms, strong wind, ice and limited visibility it is also necessary to refuse frequent rearrangements, avoid sharp maneuvers and overtaking, strictly comply with the requirements of traffic regulations related to the beginning of movement, rearrangement, turning, turning and stopping", - reminded in conversation with "Izvestia" deputy head of the department of road safety propaganda and prevention of children's road traffic injuries of the State Automobile Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, police colonel Anton Belan.
