Chisinau will not denounce the agreements signed within the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) as long as they are beneficial for the country's citizens. This was stated by Moldovan Foreign Minister Mihai Popşoi on January 14.

Sixty-six agreements signed within the CIS have been denounced, and another 50 are at different stages of denunciation, he said during the program La 360 de grade on Radio Moldova, the local Noi newspaper reported. The agreements on cooperation in economy, social protection and health care will be preserved as long as they are beneficial for Moldovan citizens, Popşoi emphasized.

The Moldovan minister said that the CIS agreements denounced by the country did not benefit Moldovan citizens.

In August 2024, Liliana Grossu, an MP from the ruling Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS), told Izvestia that the issue of the republic's withdrawal from the CIS is not on the agenda, although the authorities have declared their intentions to leave the commonwealth by the end of 2024.

In 2023, Chisinau denounced 55 agreements, while Moldova participated in 282 international treaties. Since 2024, the government of this country does not make contributions to the CIS and other organizations on the platform of the Commonwealth. At the same time, breaking relations with the CIS is not included in the list of Brussels' requirements for Moldova's European integration.
