Electric car sales in Russia set a new record

At the end of 2024, 17.8 thousand new electric cars were sold in Russia, which is 26.4% more than a year earlier. This is a record result for the Russian market, according to the report of the analytical agency Avtostat, which was received by Izvestia on January 15.

The market leader for the second year in a row was the Chinese brand Zeekr, which is not officially represented in Russia. Its market share amounted to almost 43%.

The second and third places in the brand rating were taken by domestic "Moskvich" and Evolute, their share is noticeably lower and amounts to 10 and 7% respectively. Moskvich" recorded a three-fold increase in sales, while Evolute - a drop of about 40%. Volkswagen, Avatr, Tesla, BYD, as well as Ora, FAW and Honda are next.

Among the models the crossover Zeekr 001 with a share of 28% (5 thousand units) is leading, the second place was taken by Moskvich 3e (1.8 thousand units). Zeekr X, Evolute i-Pro and Zeekr 009 completed the first five.

In total, the share of electric cars in 2024 accounted for 1.1% of the total sales of new passenger cars, while in 2023 this figure was 1.3%.

January 10, it became known that at the end of 2024 car sales in Russia were the best for the last five years. Last year in the country was realized 1.57 million new cars. Before that, a little more cars were realized in 2019 - 1.59 million units. Sales for 2024 were 48.4% higher than in 2023. Lada accounted for 28% of total sales.
