The forest fires in Los Angeles have opened a "pustule of problems" of the United States and the global technogenic sphere. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on January 15.

"This very catastrophe that happened in Los Angeles, it opened as a pustule the totality of problems not only of the United States, but of the entire world minority. Technogenic disasters happen everywhere, that's the way the world works. <...> The United States, which has become an endless obsessive world instructor, a moralizer for the whole world, which comes when they were not called, which imposes its agenda endlessly, it cannot cope with its own problem," she said on Sputnik radio.

According to her, other states, which do not present themselves as exceptional, in case of problems come together, turn to international organizations, ask for help and receive it, and, as a result, cope with disasters.

Commenting on current U.S. leader Joe Biden's Jan. 13 press conference, Zakharova noted that his entire speech was about how the U.S. has made the world worse off.

"He talked about how the United States has harmed other countries. <...> To say seriously that his phrase that 'Ukraine will be better someday, that they have laid such foundations that it will definitely be better someday,' we understand that it just sounds mocking," the Russian foreign ministry spokeswoman stressed.

Numerous forest fires in Los Angeles started on January 7. Extinguishing continues, strong winds fuel the fire, rescue teams lack water. In connection with the fires in the state declared a major disaster regime. More than 12.3 thousand structures were destroyed.

January 12, ABC News TV channel reported that at least 24 people were killed in fires in California. Another 10 were reported missing. On the same day, Bloomberg reported that the fire in California could have been caused by a broken wire. It was found on a tower connected to the Eagle Rock Sylmar power line. Meanwhile, The Washington Post noted that the cause could have been the launching of fireworks on New Year's Eve.
