Russia and Vietnam agree to strengthen bilateral trade and increase supplies

Russia and Vietnam have agreed to strengthen bilateral trade and increase supplies of products to each other's markets. This was stated on January 15 in a joint communiqué following Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin's visit to the republic, published on the Russian government website.
According to the document, the two countries emphasize the importance of developing transportation and more active use of the free trade regime.
In addition, Russia and Vietnam will continue to work on creating favorable conditions for joint oil and gas projects both in Russia and on Vietnam's continental shelf, complying with the legislation of both countries and international norms, including the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.
In the field of rail and sea communication, as well as cargo transportation, the two sides agreed to develop these areas.
"It was recognized necessary to develop rail and sea communication and multimodal freight transportation," the document says.
It is also noted that Russian-Vietnamese relations, based on a comprehensive strategic partnership, continue to develop on a mutually beneficial basis thanks to active political dialog, primarily at the highest level.
Mishustin flew to Vietnam on an official visit on January 13. The next day, talks between representatives of Russia and Vietnam began in Hanoi.
Before the talks, Mishustin laid wreaths at the Memorial to Fallen Heroes and the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum. He was accompanied by Tran Van Son, head of the Vietnamese Government Office.
