The Comprehensive Partnership Treaty between Moscow and Tehran does not imply the creation of a military alliance between the states. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi told IRNA on January 15.

"This is a truly comprehensive, all-encompassing agreement. It covers all aspects of bilateral relations, with a special focus on economy and trade. The agreement includes security and defense cooperation but does not aim at establishing a military alliance," he said.

Araqchi added that the agreement is aimed solely at improving relations between Russia and Iran and is not created to confront any third party.

Earlier, on January 14, Iranian Ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali said that the comprehensive strategic partnership treaty between Moscow and Tehran is concluded for 20 years.

Prior to that, on January 13, Jalali noted in an interview with Iran Press news agency that the treaty contains 47 articles and covers all spheres of bilateral cooperation. According to the diplomat, the document was drafted with a focus on "balance, the principles of sovereignty and respect for the territorial integrity of the countries."

Also on January 13, the Kremlin press service reported that on January 17, President of the Republic Masoud Pezeshkian will arrive in Moscow on an official visit, on which day he will hold talks with Russian leader Vladimir Putin. Also after the talks, the heads of state will sign a comprehensive strategic partnership agreement between Russia and Iran.
