Several Venezuelan consulates in European and Latin American countries have been subjected to attacks by fascist activists. Venezuelan Foreign Minister Ivan Gil Pinto said on January 13.

"In a coordinated action organized by commanders of rampant fascism, several of our consulates have been attacked by extremists who are damaging our diplomatic institutions just as they want to damage our beloved Bolivarian homeland," he wrote in Telegram.

The Venezuelan Foreign Ministry asked the authorities of Portugal, Germany, Colombia, Spain, Costa Rica and Colombia to speed up the investigation to find the attackers and guarantee the security of the headquarters.

Earlier in the day, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro suggested Puerto Rico's independence from the US could be achieved with the help of Brazilian troops. He said Venezuela has a plan for liberation, "just like the North," whose colonial program he proposes to oppose.
