Serbia blamed the US for the development of the conflict in Ukraine

The conflict in Ukraine could have been over in a few months if the USA had not intervened, the Serbian daily Pechat has said.

It noted that if the US side had not intervened in the conflict, human, material and territorial losses could have been avoided.

"And in fact the conflict would not even have happened, because Kiev would not have had the resources to fight," - said in the material of the edition of January 10.

As specified by "Gazeta.Ru", the United States secretly supplied Ukraine with weapons before the conflict began - this led to the development and prolongation of the situation.

Earlier, on January 4, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that Washington had started sending arms to Kiev long before Russia launched the special operation. He noted that the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) received, in particular, such weapons as Stinger surface-to-air missile systems (SAMs) and Javelin anti-tank missile systems.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, commenting on Blinken's words, noted that Russia has been pointing this out for years.

Before that, on January 3, a report by the press bureau of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) noted that the West does not rule out the imminent collapse of the AFU's defense and stressed the general decline in the country's ability to confront Russia's army. In this regard, the outgoing administration of U.S. President Joe Biden is trying to prevent such a scenario and is emphasizing the delivery of more and more advanced weapons to Kiev, including long-range missile systems.

The special operation to protect Donbass, which was announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the worsening situation in the region.
