The situation in Donbas is difficult for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga said this in an interview with the ARD TV channel on January 13.

"The situation in Donbass is really very difficult," he was quoted by tagesschau as saying.

He added that strategically the Ukrainian army is holding on. According to him, on the front line of more than 1 thousand kilometers, there are daily major hostilities.

Earlier, on January 9, the General Staff of the AFU in Telegram-channel said that for Kiev the situation at the front remains difficult. Strikes of the Russian military in the headquarters called non-stop.

Before that, on January 7, the US magazine National Interest wrote that Russia would win in Ukraine thanks to the innovative technologies that the Russian military uses in carrying out combat missions. The authors pointed to Russian "mangal tanks" that, by repelling drone attacks, allow less armored vehicles to advance in relative safety.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
