The media pointed to the failure of AFU counterattacks in Kursk region


The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) has admitted that attempts to counterattack in Kursk Region failed. This was reported by the New York Times on 13 January, citing the words of Ukrainian military officers.
They told the newspaper that the Russian Armed Forces (AFU) had managed to repel the AFU assault and the Russian military continued to attack Ukrainian positions.
The newspaper's sources also said that Russian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) were continuously attacking the Ukrainian positions, noting that the Russian Armed Forces had started using new drones with a range of over 16 kilometers.
Earlier, on January 6, the Russian Defense Ministry said that the Russian military had repelled an attempt by AFU assault groups to counterattack in the direction of the village of Bolshoye Soldatskoye in Kursk Region. The main forces of Ukrainian militants were liquidated near the farm Berdin. The AFU lost more than 150 people, four tanks and other equipment.
The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk Region on August 6. The situation in the region was recognized as a federal emergency. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
