TheUnited States intends to maintain economic integration with China. This was announced on January 13 by Jake Sullivan, national security adviser to US President Joe Biden.

"We are integrated with China and should continue to trade, maintain normal ties, including technological ties," he said in an interview with Bloomberg TV on YouTube in response to a question about the United States' desire for an economic blockade of China.

According to him, restrictions on exports of high technologies with national significance are needed to prevent their use against the United States. At the same time, he emphasized that such a policy should not entail complete isolation.

Sullivan added that the United States seeks to find a balance in this issue. Biden's adviser specified that Washington's policy is based on the principle of "small yard and high fence", which implies localized restriction of exports of the most sensitive objects of technology.

Earlier in the day, the White House website reported that the United States imposes new restrictions on the export of chips and models of artificial intelligence (AI) for the interests of the country and national security. It is noted that in order to strengthen national security, it is important that the state does not take this critical technology abroad, and the global AI to work on "American rails".

Before that, on December 31, 2024, it became known that hackers associated with China allegedly attacked the electronic systems of the U.S. Treasury Department. The New York Times indicated that the Treasury Department was notified of the attack by BeyondTrust. The hacker could gain access to remote workstations of the Ministry of Finance and documents stored there. According to the ministry, it cooperated with the FBI in the investigation of the attack.
