- Peskov called the attempted AFU attack on the "Turkish Stream" dangerous for Europeans

The attempt of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) to attack the compressor station of the Turkish Stream in Krasnodar Region is a very dangerous link for European consumers. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on January 13.
"This is a new, very dangerous for European consumers link in the chain of actions on explosions, organization of carrying out explosions, sabotage on the "North Stream"," he told reporters.
Earlier in the day, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that Ukraine on January 11 tried to attack with nine drones a compressor station in the Krasnodar region, through which gas is supplied by the Turkish Stream pipeline. It was specified that air defense units repelled the attack by shooting down all the drones.
Later, the representative of the European Commission (EC) Anna-Kaisa Itkonen said that the EC is concerned about the attempted attack of the AFU on the compressor station. According to her, any attack on energy infrastructure is a cause for concern. At the same time, she specified that the European Commission had not received any comments from the Ukrainian side.
Also on January 13, Turkish political analyst Mehmet Perincek told Izvestia that the AFU attack on the station of the Turkish Stream gas pipeline was expected, as Kiev and Washington openly declared plans to prevent its work.
Ukrainian militants are trying to strike Russian territories against the backdrop of the special operation in Donbass, the start of which was announced on February 24, 2022. The decision was taken due to the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
