Volunteers of the "People's Front" help to eliminate the consequences of the oil spill in the Black Sea after the crash of tankers "Volgoneft-212" and "Volgoneft-239". This was reported on January 13 by the coordinator of the youth branch of the "People's Front" in Sevastopol Vladislav Romushin.

"We work on different beaches of the city. We go out where volunteer help is needed most of all. We cleaned the coastline of the "Blue Bay", "Elm Grove", "Lighthouse", "Romance" and "Star Coast", - he said.

Romushin also noted that during the day volunteers collect about 100 bags of fuel oil. In addition, assistance is provided to the affected birds.

Within the framework of the headquarters #WYWMOSTE volunteers clear the coastline from fuel oil and help in the rehabilitation center "Gagara" in Anapa.

It is specified that about 30 volunteers of the "People's Front" are involved in the cleaning of fuel oil.

Earlier in the day, the operational headquarters of the Krasnodar region reported that the bulk of the fuel oil, which leaked from the stern of the tanker "Volgoneft-239" near the shore in the Temryuksky district, was collected with the help of an excavator. Small areas of pollution are removed by volunteers with shovels, collecting in bags.

At the same time, the head of Crimea Sergey Aksyonov said that there were no global oil stains near the coast of the republic after the tanker crash. All the consequences of the oil spill near the coast of Crimea are planned to be eliminated by the beginning of the holiday season.

Tankers "Volgoneft-212" and "Volgoneft-239" due to bad weather crashed in the Kerch Strait on December 15, 2024. The incident resulted in a spill of oil products. 27 people were evacuated from both vessels, one person died. On the instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin, a working group was set up to coordinate the work to eliminate the consequences of the emergency.
