Several police officers hurt in scuffle with protesting firefighters in Brussels

Several police officers were lightly injured in a brief scuffle with protesting firefighters on strike against pension cuts. This was reported by The Brussels Times on January 13, citing the police press service.
"During this demonstration, several colleagues were injured in an incident that occurred around noon," the publication said.
It is specified that a group of several dozen firefighters deviated from the agreed route, trying to block the Boulevard ring of Brussels. This led to a brief clash with the police.
Several firefighters attacked local law enforcement officers. In addition, tear gas was used for some time. Police said they will thoroughly investigate the incident and take the necessary measures to avoid a repeat of the incident.
According to VRT NWS, the Brussels Fire Department expressed regrets about the incident. They also said an investigation is underway to determine the circumstances and identities of the troublemakers.
Earlier on January 11, The Times of Israel reported that Tel Aviv police scuffled with protesters after announcing a rally outside the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) headquarters. The protesters ignored orders from law enforcement officers to disperse, which provoked a massive clash between activists and police officers.
