Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze has condemned former Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, who said he talked his son out of serving in the army.

"Of course, it is very hard to listen to the stories of a former high-ranking official about how his son changed his mind about volunteering, while people were detained directly to be sent to the front," Georgian TV Channel One quoted him as saying on January 13.

At the same time, Georgia was asked to appoint direct charter flights to transfer volunteers to Ukraine, which was a call to join the conflict, Kaladze noted.

On the eve, Kuleba admitted that he dissuaded his son from joining the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) and persuaded him to continue studying at university, but would respect any choice of his son. In addition, he admitted a possible reduction of the mobilization age in the country.

Earlier, on January 10, Ukrainian Deputy Defence Minister Ivan Havrylyuk said that the bill on demobilization could not be passed to the Verkhovna Rada due to a shortage of personnel. The problem is related to the uncertainty of who these military personnel can be replaced by, he explained.

Ukraine has been under martial law since February 2022. Then the country's President Volodymyr Zelensky (term of office expired on May 20, 2024) signed a decree on general mobilization, its effect has been repeatedly extended. Most men between the ages of 18 and 60 are forbidden to leave the country. In April 2024, the head of the Kiev regime approved the law on tougher mobilization.
