Disney is being sued for $10 billion for copyright infringement on "Moana 2"

Animator Buck Woodall sued Disney, accusing it of stealing the idea of the animated film "Moana-2", and demanded to pay damages of $10 billion, The Independent reported on January 13.
"The animator sued Disney for allegedly copying the idea of the popular franchise "Moana" from his script more than a decade ago without his consent," - stated in the material.
In the lawsuit, which went to court in California, Woodall claims that Disney stole many elements of a script he wrote as recently as 2003 for an animated movie called "Bucky." He had already tried to sue the company in 2024, but the suit was dismissed. The release of "Moana 2" allowed the animator to take legal action again.
According to Woodall, the current head of development at DreamWorks Animation, Jenny Marchick, illegally used his materials and through "legal loopholes" gave them to Disney, while the "Bucky" cartoon was never released.
The Moana 2 animated film premiered worldwide on November 21, 2024. In early December, it was shown in Russia in translation with Kazakh dubbing: Moana is voiced by famous hip-hop singer Nazima. To date, box office receipts of the film in the world have reached almost $1 billion.
