A magnitude 6.8 earthquake struck off the islands of Japan

In Japan, an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.8 occurred near the island of Kyushu. This was reported on January 13 by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center(EMSC).

It is specified that the tremors were felt in Osaka.

Tsunami warning was announced for the islands of Kyushu, Shikoku, Amami and for areas of Honshu Island after the earthquake, writes Japanese broadcaster NHK.

Earlier, on January 1, Japan was hit by a series of powerful earthquakes. As a result, several thousand people in Ishikawa prefecture were left without electricity.
