CAR President Touadera to fly to Moscow on January 14

President of the Central African Republic (CAR) Faustin-Arkange Touadera will pay a visit to Russia, he will fly to Moscow on Tuesday, January 14. This was announced by the spokesman of the head of state Albert Mokpem on January 13.

"The president's visit to Moscow has been confirmed, the departure is tomorrow. The whole trip will take five days with flights, so three or four days in Moscow," he told RIA Novosti.

Mokpem explained that the entire trip together with flights will take five days, three to four days of which the CAR president will spend in the Russian capital.

In addition, the spokesman said that Touadera may meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin during the visit.

Earlier, on November 20 last year, Putin held a telephone conversation with Touadera, during which the Russian side confirmed its readiness to continue assisting the CAR in strengthening the national economy, sovereignty and security of the country. In addition, the parties agreed to continue maintaining contacts at various levels.

On April 19, the president of the CAR pointed to the possibility of the appearance of a military base of the Russian Federation in the east of the country. The head of the republic said that the country had trained more than 10 thousand young soldiers with the help of Russian instructors. In turn, Russian Ambassador in Bangui Alexander Bikantov noted that the appearance of a Russian military base in the CAR will help to solve the security problems in this country.

Prior to that, Touadera paid an official visit to Moscow to participate in the forum of supporters of the fight against modern practices of neocolonialism, which was held from February 15 to 17. At that time, he met with Dmitry Medvedev, deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council and chairman of the United Russia party.
