EU talks with Iran on nuclear issue begin in Geneva

A new round of negotiations between Iran and the countries of the European troika - Britain, France, Germany - on the nuclear issue is taking place in Geneva. This is reported on January 13 by "RIA Novosti" with reference to the deputy head of the Iranian Foreign Ministry Kazem Gharib-Abadi.
The meeting is closed to the press. The level of participants and its venue are not specified.
The previous round was held in Geneva on November 29, 2024 after a two-year break.
Earlier, on January 3, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Arkachi said that the country's authorities are ready to immediately begin negotiations on the nuclear doctrine with Western countries, if it will be possible to conclude a new agreement. According to him, Tehran is ready for changes in order for the Western countries to lift sanctions.
In late November, the IAEA board of governors adopted a resolution criticizing Iran over its lack of cooperation on the nuclear issue. The document was supported by the governments of the United States, Britain, France and Germany, while the Russian side condemned it.
