Kremlin says it is monitoring Trump team's rhetoric on Ukraine

It is possible to talk about a change in the US rhetoric regarding Ukraine only after the inauguration of US President-elect Donald Trump. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said this during a briefing on 13 January.
This is how he commented on the words of the American president-elect's national security adviser Mike Waltz that Trump considers it impossible to "oust" Russia from all former Ukrainian territories. Moreover, he noted that such a reality is beginning to be recognized by the entire world.
"We have seen this interview, we are tracking it, but still, it will be possible to talk about whether this is the result of a change in rhetoric only in a week or after the official appointments," Peskov said.
According to him, so far these statements are made by people who have not yet been appointed to their positions. He noted that at the moment the administration of the current US President Joe Biden is in charge of the process and there is no change in his rhetoric.
The deputy of the State Duma from the Crimean region, a member of the security committee Mikhail Sheremet on the eve called sensible Trump's position on the unrealism of talking about "ousting" Russia from all former Ukrainian territories, including Crimea.
In the same interview, Waltz said that Trump believes it is impossible to resolve the conflict in Ukraine without dialog with Russia. He added that the dialog with Russia will be established within the next few months. Waltz also clarified that the American leader-elect considers it impossible to "oust" Russia from all former Ukrainian territories. According to him, this reality is beginning to be recognized by the whole world.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
