The Russian Armed Forces' army has foiled an attempt of the third counter-offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in Kursk Region, including at the place of military glory - Kursk Bulge. This was reported by Forbes on January 12.

"Russian fiber-optic drones helped stop a Ukrainian attack along the northern edge of the Kursk Bulge on January 5. There is ample evidence that the new jamming UAVs are hitting Ukrainian tanks, including top U.S. M-1 Abrams and German Leopard 2s," the publication said.

In addition, the magazine reports that the means of air defense (air defense) of the Russian Federation successfully eliminates the tanks of the AFU, which supplied from the West.

Earlier in the day, the Russian Defense Ministry said that the Northern grouping of Russian troops repelled five counterattacks of Ukrainian militants in the Kursk region. In addition, the enemy's manpower and equipment were hit by air strikes and artillery fire in areas of settlements in the Kursk and Sumy regions.

At the same time it was reported that the crew of the army aviation on the Ka-52 helicopter hit the armored vehicles and manpower of the AFU in the Kursk border area with missiles. The pilots carried out a combat mission at the given coordinates as part of the support of the "North" group.

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of the Kursk region on August 6 last year. The situation in the region was recognized as a federal emergency. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
