At least 11 people have been killed in landslides in Brazil


Landslides in the Ipatinga region of Brazil have killed at least 11 people. This was reported on January 12 by the Brazilian affiliate of CNN.
According to the military fire department of the state of Minas Gerais (CBMMG), two of the victims were children of eight years old. Another five adults between the ages of 31 and 55, as well as four elderly people did not survive the cataclysm.
Search efforts to locate other possible victims continue.
Earlier on November 28, 2024, 15 people were killed and at least 100 missing in eastern Uganda after a landslide triggered by heavy rains buried dozens of houses in several villages. The area where the landslide occurred is mountainous and has experienced similar natural disasters in the past, including an avalanche in 2010 that killed at least 80 people.
