- Residents of the village of Bolshoye Soldatskoye told about life in the Kursk border area

Ukrainian formations failed to occupy the village of Bolshoye Soldatskoye. Despite the complete destruction of the bus station, kindergarten and post office building, some civilians do not want to leave their homes.
"I don't even allow even the thought (of leaving - Ed.). I don't even allow it. I don't know. I can't leave my land. I can't leave the walls somewhere. No," said Tatyana Dementieva, a resident of Kursk region, in a conversation with Izvestia correspondent Alexander Fedorchak on January 13.
Pensioners and large families mostly live here. Children are already getting used to the loud sounds, but it can still be scary.
"When it starts to bang, we run to the bathroom. Not often, but it bangs," commented Alisa Skripkina, a peaceful resident.
Life in the settlement continues. For example, local resident Vita Naumova is waiting for the return of her husband, who is now in Donbass, while she is raising her daughters and expects a new addition to the family in February.
More than a thousand people live in the small village. Each family is helped by Russian servicemen from the 30th motorized rifle regiment of the northern grouping. The soldiers bring people food, water, firewood and congratulate them on holidays.
"Our guys discounted the gifts themselves. This is not humanitarian aid. They bought everything themselves," said the deputy commander of the artillery division for military and political work with the call sign Batya.
Residents are providing the Russian soldiers with reciprocal support: they feed them, knit warm clothes for them and believe that the soldiers will soon liberate Kursk region.
Earlier, on January 12, the northern grouping of Russian troops repelled five counterattacks of Ukrainian militants in Kursk region. In addition, the enemy's manpower and equipment were hit by air strikes and artillery fire in areas of settlements in Kursk and Sumy regions.
The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk region on August 6, 2024. The situation in the region was recognized as a federal emergency. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region
