Polish Defense Minister Vladislav Kosiniak-Kamysh recommended not to fly to Moscow through the airspace of his country because of the refusal to allow a special flight of a Slovak delegation to the Russian capital. This was reported by TVP Info on January 12.

"I recommend flights to Warsaw, not to Moscow," Kosiniak-Kamysh said on air when asked about relations between Poland and Slovakia.

At the same time, the minister noted that the countries intend to sign an agreement on cooperation of defense industrial complexes (DIC).

On the same day, Russia's permanent representative to international organizations in Vienna, Mikhail Ulyanov, said that Poland's refusal to allow a plane with a Slovak parliamentary delegation flying to Russia to pass through its airspace was beyond imagination.

At the same time Poland did not allow a plane with a Slovak parliamentary delegation traveling to Moscow to pass through its airspace. The sky was closed for the flight. Later, the deputy speaker of the country's parliament, Andrei Danko, said from aboard the airliner that the plane had changed its route and would go to Russia via the Czech Republic and Germany.

The airplane of the delegation of the vice-speaker of the Slovak parliament successfully landed earlier in the day at Vnukovo airport. This was reported by the representative of the Slovak delegation Peter Gašpar. Before that, on January 10, his visit was announced by a spokeswoman for the Slovak National Party, which is led by Deputy Speaker Zuzana Shkoptsova.

Danko noted on January 5 that he might visit Moscow in January to help restore the dialog with Russia started by Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fitzo, who visited Russia in December. The country's deputy speaker indicated that he plans to meet personally with Russian State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin, as well as to hold ministerial-level meetings. According to Danko, his goal is to "open the eyes of people in Slovakia."
