- The Permanent Representative commented on Poland's refusal to allow a Slovak plane to enter Russian Federation

Poland's refusal to allow an airplane carrying a Slovak parliamentary delegation flying to Russia to pass through its airspace is beyond imagination. This statement was made on January 12 by Mikhail Ulyanov, Russia's permanent representative to international organizations in Vienna.
"The decision to close airspace to opponents from another country is beyond any imagination," he wrote on the social network X (former Twitter).
Ulyanov emphasized that relations between European Union (EU) countries have become quite complicated "because of the different approach to the issue of war and peace."
Earlier in the day, Poland did not allow an airplane carrying a delegation from the Slovak parliament traveling to Moscow to pass through its airspace. The sky was closed for the flight. Later, the deputy speaker of the country's parliament, Andrei Danko, said from aboard the airliner that the route had been changed and would go to Russia via the Czech Republic and Germany.
The airplane of the delegation of the vice-speaker of the Slovak parliament successfully landed earlier in the day at Vnukovo airport. This was reported by the representative of the Slovak delegation Peter Gašpar. Before that, on January 10, his visit was announced by the spokeswoman of the Slovak National Party, which is led by Deputy Speaker Zuzana Shkoptsova.
Danko noted on January 5 that he might visit Moscow in January to help restore the dialog with Russia started by Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fitzo, who visited Russia in December. The country's deputy speaker indicated that he plans to meet personally with Russian State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin, as well as hold ministerial-level meetings. According to Danko, his goal is to "open the eyes of people in Slovakia."
