Su-35S fighter crews provided cover for the Air Force in the Kursk Region


Crews of Su-35S multipurpose super-maneuverable fighter jets of the Russian Air and Space Forces (VKS) have performed air cover for VKS crews in the border areas of the Kursk Region. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on January 12.
Fulfilling combat missions, fighter pilots practiced air cover in the area of operations of bomber and attack aircraft, as well as provided cover for helicopters of the army aviation during air strikes on armored vehicles and personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).
In addition, applying a complex of aviation weapons, the aircraft also performed the detection of objects of air defense (air defense) of the enemy, added in the Department.

On January 12, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that an Army aviation crew on a Ka-52 helicopter as part of a mixed tactical group struck air missiles against AFU manpower and armored vehicles in the border area of the Kursk region. The pilots worked at the given coordinates and hit armored vehicles as well as AFU manpower with air missiles.
The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk Region on August 6 last year. The situation in the region was recognized as a state of emergency of federal character. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
